Product methodologies

We love working on our product, talking to people and showing what we have today, listening to new ideas, and learning from people we meet along the way. The team and me in particular, like to think out of the box, not build something that we have seen before. It is hard. For that, we are using a few methods for product thinking and getting product evolution in the search for the right fit.

While thinking about ways to improve our WIP solution, we recently used a method called “The Personal Assistance” framework. I picked it up from my professor Oren Zuckerman and I find that it does wonders for the team. We see a boost in creativity and we saw that we have built a product that helps us encapsulate our client's way of thinking.

“The Personal Assistance” - essentials. Your product is solving a need for your clients, but we are not sure what to build and how to prioritize the features once we have them. So, considering that you have a personal assistant that can complete tasks for your client. If that assistant existed what would it do to complete this task and solve the need of your client? Now, every action can be considered a feature. And the task that has the best “score” to remedy the need of the client is the first priority to build. Now, all we have to do is to define the tasks our assistant is taking on and build a feature out of them.

(Some can be a service under the hood… shhh don’t tell)

We are building a tool that enables product designers to design the actual product and share components and design with the tech team - real code. Meaning we are killing the handoff.

When a designer starts to work on a new design we would like our assistant to help get the best environment and understand the intention and the state of mind, so when I want to search for a component and I choose to go to the organization’s library I want to see all the components and get inspired but when I in the process of designing a new feature, and I need to search for a component, I want to see something that is the library but in a new way that will not interfere with my work.
